Hi guys,
I’m actually uploading this post on time this week :’) Yayyy! *pats self on back and eats chocolate as a reward* Referring to the title of this blog, this really was the week where I questioned everything, but not in the sense of where did the human race originated from etc.; it was more on a personal level. I started questioning whether being a singer-songwriter was the career I actually wanted. It started off with me thinking if I should just be a songwriter; to forget about the whole performing malarkey and becoming an artist in my own right, and focusing more on writing songs for other people. Then that turned into contemplating on whether pursuing a career in this business in the first place is the right thing for me. I started thinking of other job possibilities and trust me, that’s scary to be thinking that when you’ve always known what you wanted to be since the age of 12! You’ll be pleased to know that by the end of the week, having spent the majority of it wrapped in my own thoughts, I concluded that actually, this is what I wanted to do. I will continue to pursue my ambition of wanting to be a professional singer-songwriter! *does an enthusiastic punch in the air* I also did my first open mic in Brighton this week at The Brunswick pub. The actual open mic night was held in a separate room attached to the pub. It had a little stage with its own lighting and a sound guy, who was adjusting the sound as you played, which is pretty cool. I went along with some mates from college, and one of them also performed (he’s called Tagore Chayne, check him out on YouTube!). Due to my mind-set that week (as mentioned in the paragraph above), it was quite hard for me to fully enjoy the experience of performing, but now that I’m feeling better about it all, the next time I perform hopefully will be much better. Also something majorly cool happened this week! I wrote to one of my favourite YouTubers, Carrie Hope Fletcher, about a year ago and I received a reply from her Tuesday morning! It was a signed photo with a message on the back, so that was a lovely thing to start the day with. If you haven’t heard of her, you need to check her out, her content is very uplifting. There’s also an artist which I think you really need to check out called George The Poet. He does spoken word over music and writes quite powerful lyrics. I would check out his song ‘Tap Dancing’. Speaking of new talent, what are you guys thinking of ‘The Voice UK’ at the moment? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it and talent shows in general. I’ll write to you all same time next week! Love and smiles, Amelia xxx
