The first sighting of snow (week 3)

Its week 3 of my blog! I hope your week has been lovely J

I was incredibly enthusiastic on Monday, much to the shock of my classmates at college. They didn’t understand how someone could be so happy on a Monday :’) We were given the task in a session with one of our tutors to write a happy, but non-cheesy song. Let me tell you that is a lot harder than it seems! I found it difficult to not come up with cheesy lyrics. However, after much procrastinating, we managed to come up with a song. It wasn’t the finished product but it was still a start!

I woke up to a light dusting of snow on Tuesday! Unfortunately, that’s all the snow we got, which was annoying! L I was going to go to an Open Mic night that night. However, before I left, I checked the weather forecast and it said it was going to snow while I would’ve been at the Open Mic night! I didn’t really fancy getting stranded in Brighton so I decided not to go. However, it didn’t end up snowing in the end, which was annoying! -.-

I had a bad case of writers block at college on Wednesday. I couldn’t get anything down and felt incredibly annoyed with myself! However, my classmates said that it’s okay to get writers block as everyone gets it sometimes. Also that day, we started creating out plans that we have to write. They can be as little as 6 month plan to a 4-year length one. I decided to set mine to a year. The whole process was very comforting as I’ve been worried about what I’m going to be doing once the course finishes (which is late June/early July). So to leave the session having an idea of what I’m going to be doing certainly took a load off my shoulders!

I didn’t have a great day at work on Friday. I work in the kitchen normally but this was my first proper day serving out front in the café. I really struggled under the pressure and made quite a lot of mistakes, including a couple of big ones (such as forgetting to send a customer’s order to the kitchen -.-). Luckily, my boss (and that poor customer!) was very understanding; knowing that it was my first proper day out front. I learnt that sometimes, you have to not be so hard on yourself. When you think that you have done terribly, it turns out that you didn’t do that bad! However, it’s always important to apologise if you feel you’ve done badly because then people know that you take whatever you do seriously (or at least, that’s what my parents told me!).

Also, did anyone watch ‘Cucumber’, ‘Banana’ and ‘Tofu’ on channel 4, E4 and 4OD on Thursday? I freaking love it! If you don’t know what it is, it’s 3 different series that all interlink written by the brilliant Russell T Davies. It’s about gay life in the modern world and it’s very funny! However, it’s not one to be watched with your parents!

I also watched this documentary about the Carpenters this week that was shown on BBC4. I didn’t know much about them but their career was certainly filled with a lot of turbulence! I would definitely watch it as it’s an interesting watch, as well as quite emotional. It’s called ‘Only Yesterday: The Carpenter’s Story’ for anyone that’s interested.

Well that’s it I’m afraid. Sorry it’s been a bit boring! It’s still early days for my career so there’s not going to be that much that is incredibly exciting! But hang in there!

Love and smiles,
Amelia xxx
