My first weekly blog post yay!
Yeah, I know I'm a bit late as I said I would upload it either Sunday or Monday evening...and it's now Wednesday evening...apologies! I guess what I should mention is what to expect from this blog. I want to be as honest as possible with you guys. If I'm having a bad day or week, I'll mention it. I don't want to paint a false picture of my life. I'll also be writing about my thoughts and views on things that I've seen or heard throughout the week that I feel are relevant. I'll be summarising my week, but I'll try to keep it short and sweet. I don't want it to feel like you're reading an essay! I'd be lying if I said it wasn't hard going back to routine last week. I'm one of those people that like routines for a while, before changing it to a different one. But doing the same thing all the time that you could probably go through the week with your eyes closed? That's hard for me. So Monday morning was a bit of a struggle! It was my first day back at work on Tuesday and that was also a bit of a struggle! But I reminded myself what I was grateful for about the day ahead and what I was looking forward to and that actually helped. I would recommend doing that if you struggle to motivate yourself in the morning! We had an interesting debate at college on Wednesday that was about Meghan Trainor's song, 'All About That Bass'. Points were made that the song was actually more about skinny shaming and having a body that is pleasing for a man rather than being happy with your body shape and I have to say I agree. The line, "Go ahead and tell those skinny bitches that" and then afterwards saying, very quietly and quickly may I add, "Nah I'm just playing", does not make the rest of the song okay! It should be about every body shape being okay, not just that if you're curvy and slightly bigger than others, it makes you better than them. Think about it: if the song was about being skinny, would it be celebrated as much? I managed to buy 1D's new album when out shopping on Saturday and I have to say, it's much better than their previous one. I feel that the sound is more consistent than the last album. It's quite 80s, with one song channelling Bon Jovi and a couple others are a bit 1975-ish. If you're not a fan of One Direction, I think you might be pleasantly surprised. I saw 'Into The Woods' on Sunday. A great film! Sondheim is a genius! I would recommend any budding songwriter to go and see the film just to hear his brilliant songs with awesome lyrics. There's my first blog post! I hope it wasn't too long! I will be writing more next week! Love and smiles, Amelia xxx
