I feel inspired (week 5)

Hello everyone! I hope your week has been good! Mine’s been lovely J
On Monday at college, 2 of my class mates and me wrote a song that was meant to be a mickey take of a Mumford & Sons song (don’t get me wrong, I like them!). We ended up really liking it so we’ve decided that we’re going to re-write some of the parts of the song and make it a bit more serious, purely because we just loved the melody :’) We also had a guest speaker come in. She works in the Sync music industry (basically creating music for film trailers & adverts). It was a side of the industry that I didn’t know much about and I found it very interesting.

I went to Joe Dolman’s EP launch on Tuesday. One of his support acts, Beth Jakob, was really good. She’s an acoustic singer-songwriter and one of her tracks, ‘Cat And Mouse’ was really good. It was a great turn out for Joe and he performed at the best I’ve ever seen him. At one point, he did a completely unplugged version of one of his songs, in the middle of the room with both of his support acts. No microphones, nothing. It truly was a very special moment to witness.

Wednesday I was doing work on my third and final song to record. It’s so close; I’m so nearly there! It won’t be long now before all 3 songs are ready to record!

I went to an open mic night Friday night at The Swan in Lewes. It’s a tiny pub and it was quite squished, but the crowd were so receptive and warm towards me and my music that it didn’t matter. I even had suggestions of what I could name the 2 songs I performed, as I don’t have names for them yet. Overall, a great success J

On Saturday and Sunday, I was in Crawley for my cousin’s 18th birthday party. It was such a great night on Saturday. It’s just so nice to let go every once in a while and not to worry about anything.

I’ve also been reading a book this week called ‘The Rise Of The Nashville Teen’ by Chloe Govan. It’s a biography about Taylor Swift’s rise to fame and her story in the spotlight. She was so determined from such a young age so reading it certainly makes you feel inspired.

I hope to have all 3 songs finished by the end of this week so watch this space… ;)

Love and smiles,

The week of nothing (week 4)

Hi guys!
Hope you’ve all had a lovely week. Has it been snowing where you are? Because there hasn’t been a single flake where I am : ( I didn’t have college last week as it was Enrichment Week, so I had two extra free days :D

I visited my grandma in hospital on Wednesday. It’s always hard seeing your grandparents when they’re ill. They look very old of a sudden and when you’re a kid, especially, you think they’re going to live forever. She’s getting better now though which is good. As the hospital was in London, I visited Borough Market for the first time. If you haven’t been there before, go! It’s such a great place, full of little stalls selling ready-to-eat food, or just things like meat and bread. I would recommend the falafel wraps ;)

Another exhausting day at work on Friday. We had a ridiculous amount of sandwich and salad orders that day and it was only me making them! Luckily, I have such great co-workers who were really supportive of me as it was my first proper, busy day working in the kitchen. It’s safe to say, I went home that day with very little energy left!

What are people’s thoughts on this series of ‘The Voice UK’(I think I’ve already asked this question, so apologies if I’m repeating myself!)? For me, there have only been two people so far that have truly blown my socks off, and no-one turned around for them! So far, the singers that all 4 judges have turned around for, I didn’t think were that special. I don’t know whether it’s just me, but I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the singers that have gone through so far, as I feel that they’ve let some really good ones slip through!

Not much else really to say about the week that has just past because I wasn’t at college. I hope I have more entertaining stuff to write about next week!

Love and smiles,

Amelia xxx
